• What qualifications do I require?

  A TEFL, Certified teaching qualification or third level degree are required to teach English in China. There are on occasions other job postings that arise that require different qualifications but any such requirements are to be confirmed with the schools.

• Who arranges my flights?

  In most cases, travel is up to you. Some schools or universities provide assistance with flights and in cases flights are paid for by the schools. Be sure to ask any prospective employer or check any work contracts for further information.

• Do you charge for submitting our resume and profile to your partner schools?

  No. It is completely free to submit your profile and resume which we in turn pass to our partner schools and associations in China. It is up to them to get in touch with you should you meet their requirements. The service we offer is completely free of charge for teachers.

• Do I need a Visa?

  All teachers are required to obtain a working visa prior to their arrival. A visa is necessary to enter the country and can be obtained at a Chinese embassy. A visa can take up to 2 months, so plan ahead.

• How long are contracts?

  Contracts of employment are generally for 12 months. Some courses vary but check with the school or institute. It is usually possible to extend durations if both parties are happy with how the initial contact went and many teacher choose to stay on or find other teaching positions in other cities.

• Do I need to speak Chinese?

  No - you can teach English in China without knowing how to speak mandarin or Cantonese (the 2 main languages). Students are encouraged to only speak English during classes and most teachers have very little or no Chinese before arriving. Some schools provide a Chinese teaching assistant or free Chinese classes to help translating and integrating.

• Do the schools provide accommodation?

  Most schools do provide accommodation as part of a contract or package. In some cases accommodation assistants will help you find suitable property to reside at if accommodation is not provided. Accommodation come generally fully furnished and ready to move in.
